⚡️Problem

As many simple, repetitive tasks usually performed by small-business Accountants and Bookkeepers becomes more automated, the industry has seen a step-change in to providing more value-adding professional services such as business and financial advisory.

While some more mature firms use advanced business insight (BI) tools and others may use custom excel spreadsheets, there was a large and growing percentage of the industry who didn’t have the tools, capability or capacity to market, sell, and deliver these services without heavy investment.

💡Solution

A browser-based product that enables Accountants and Bookkeepers to create business management reports at the click of a button. MYOB Advisor leverages Artificial Intelligence technology to analyse their client’s MYOB business file to display consumable, meaningful information through data visualisations and advice in natural language.

It was important that we made the reports easily editable, accessible, understandable, and actionable so Accountants and Bookkeepers could find the right piece of advice to provide their clients with little effort.

✅ Tasks and activities

As the designer on the MYOB Advisor team, I worked on benchmarking and improving the browser app to allow our users to effectively implement it within their business.

My responsibilities and activities included:

• Planned and conducted formative and summative qualitative and quantitative research (concept testing, 1:1 depth interviews, surveys, data analysis, and usability testing)

• Triangulated mixed-methods research to determine what customers needed, why they needed it, and the priority of importance

• Designed and iterated on the experience, from wireframes and prototypes through to high-fidelity finished product interface and interactions

• Worked closely with the development team to ensure quality of delivery

• Collaborated cross-functionally for end-to-end product delivery included onboarding and support experience
