⚡️Problem
Intelematics had developed a white-label technology-led solution that allowed vehicle insurers such as RACV to provide a Usage-Based Insurance service, where the driver’s insurance premium and discounts was determined by their driver behaviour.
This required the use of a device to be plugged in to the driver’s vehicle, that was essentially a ‘black box’ to drivers and provided little to no value other than potentially receiving a discount. The service lacked transparency around what influenced the discount and why, and as a result, adoption of trials was low and engagement with the product was unfavourable.
💡Solution
Provide users with an interface that lets them view information gathered from the ‘black box’ device in a user-friendly manner, providing a channel for them to view, understand, and action insights. The mobile-app included functionality, such as:
Drive log - a view of the vehicle’s trip information and behaviour on each trip, and ability to utilise this for tax purposes
Driver behaviour score - providing transparency on a user’s driver behaviour, broken down into their acceleration, braking, speed, hard cornering, and distraction, and insights in how to improve this
Vehicle health - providing information on alerts retrived from the vehicle, translated into user-friendly, actionable language and a channel to resolve
